What is 'involved' in recording a country cd?

Just wondering, What is involved it making a 'country music cd/record? Just want to know the ins and outs. I know it costs them mucho dinero to use a studio each day they're recording, and wondered why it takes so long for a new cd by an artist to come out/be released?
