PROBLEM with asking guy friend to SADIE'S!!!?

So I asked my friend Jake to Sadie's the other day, just flat out asked him to go as friends, but another friend had asked him about twenty minutes before. Now when I was thinking about asking Jake there was this other guy, Alex, that I wanted to ask too, he's a mutual friend of mine and Jake's and doesn't have a date (that I know of) we're good friends. I am wondering if I should ask him, I am hesitant because I asked someone else but got turned down because he had a date and now I don't want Alex to feel like he's a second choice. What should I do?
