Should i go to prom...dont even know who to take?

I don't know how it works... am i supposed to go in a tux? idk. I got a few friend- chicks in mind that I might ask but I really would prefer meeting a new girl thats not a friend. and right now im single so that wont be a problem.... I'm also concerned on how to look, what kind of haircut...I got long wavy hair up to my back, i wear a snake bite, wear skinny jeans, v necks and a biker leather jacket. i just dont think preppy chicks might want to go with me..
